Special illuminants are used for smart home lighting systems. Then you can use your smartphone or tablet to switch them on or off and adjust brightness and colour. You can organize different light sources into groups and do things like light a certain area of the living room at the same time. The colour scenarios let you activate a sunset, polar lights or twilight at the touch of a button. Your commands in the app are forwarded via your router to a control box that's connected to the light sources. Another bonus: you can also control your light sources remotely via the internet.
There are any number of manufacturers whose systems are generally not compatible. Create a lighting concept for yourself in advance. Ideally, the plan should include both interior spaces and the garden and outdoor area. Don't forget to include the right motion detectors. Now check which system best implements your ideas. Does the price match your budget? Then you've found your smart home lighting.
The light sources are connected to a control box using various protocols like "ZigBee". The box is connected to the router just like your mobile phone, iPhone, tablet or iPad. Using an app, you can now control your lighting, set up routines like waking up to a simulated sunrise and even create scenes to while away an atmospheric evening. Convenient networked motion detectors may be used to prompt certain actions. For example, if your smartphone is close to the garage, the outdoor light will turn on automatically.
